Dear ASC 24,
It is November 14, two months since my last blog post, and four months since I walked up to a group of strangers ready to begin Alum Service Corps. And, by this time next week, the St. Louis and Denver ASC communities will be making their way to Kansas City for an ASC family reunion!
It really seems like it’s all happened incredibly fast… doesn’t it? For me, at least, the last four months seem… blurred together. I can still hear us saying…“final goodbyes”… to each other at Jesuit Hall… Playing soccer at Green Thrills… It even seems like Shannon and I are still looking for Molly at the airport…
So, okay ASC communities, here’s the deal. At first, I was going to write a deep blog post about what I learned from parent-teacher conferences, from grading mishaps, from Kairos practices, and from De Smet Jesuit High School faculty meetings (I really was! It was going to be titled: “Making the Grade”! Well, ok, probably more cheesy than deep). And I was going to say that this retreat is coming at the perfect time for me (it really is!). But somehow, I think it’s more fitting to put up a few pictures to help us get excited for our retreat and so you can get a tiny glimpse into what the St. Louis ASCs have been up to!
… And honestly, these are the memories that have been missing for me during my busy weeks when I get caught in my own little routine. Thank you for helping me break out of this cycle (shout out to Joe Wotawa, S.J., a De Smet Jesuit faculty member).
There are obviously so many more pictures that I’d love to include here… But I needed to save all the space I could for this final video… This one’s for you, John Micich!
Thanks for reading, I can’t wait to see you all soon!
